Measure each part
Measure the full outside length and width. Select both faces if the back will also be coated.
Use a flexible fabric tape
Measure the entire outside of the part, including curved edges and the back if it needs finishing. A straight ruler across the front of a helmet misses much of its surface.
For a helmet, measure around the widest outside edge, then run the tape from one lower rim over the crown to the opposite rim. Enter those two measurements in the dome fields. For complicated shapes, send a photo with the tape visible so we can verify the estimate.
How this estimate is figured
Flat: length × width × selected faces. Box: all six outer faces. Cylinder: outside circumference × length plus two circular ends. Dome: approximate curved shell from the circumference and rim-to-rim arc. Square inches are priced per part, then multiplied by quantity. Complex recesses and unusual shapes need a shop review.
