High-Temperature Cerakote Applications

Heat-exposed components should not be treated as a simple color choice. Operating temperature, substrate, cure requirements and the location of the coating all matter when selecting a Cerakote system.

IKKIN DIP IT
Application before appearance

Use the Cerakote series guide and project quote to match the coating family to the actual component.

WHY SERIES MATTERS

Not every Cerakote family is intended for the same job.

IKKIN separates H-Series, C-Series, Elite/E, F-Series, V-Series, MC-Series and P-Series because cure method and performance requirements differ. For heat-exposed projects, the application should drive the system choice.

01

C-Series

Ambient-cure and application-specific finishes can be useful where oven curing or service environment calls for a different coating family.

02

V-Series

The site identifies V-Series for extreme-temperature exhaust and engine-related applications. Use the product guide to narrow the system.

03

Other series

A part being near heat does not automatically place it in one series. Material, exposure and use still need review.

PROJECT CHECKLIST

What IKKIN needs to evaluate a heat-exposed part.

The more accurately the application is described, the more useful the coating discussion can be.

PART

Identify the component

Tell us exactly what the part is and where it is used. Include a clear photo.

MATERIAL

Identify the substrate

Steel, aluminum and other materials can require different preparation and cure considerations.

USE

Describe the heat exposure

Explain whether the part sees continuous heat, cycling, exhaust-related temperatures or indirect engine-bay heat.

LOOK

Describe the finish goal

Include the desired appearance, but keep performance requirements ahead of color availability.

COMMON PROJECT TYPES

Heat exposure shows up in more than one kind of project.

High-heat inquiries commonly involve automotive, motorcycle, exhaust and performance components. Suitability is evaluated part by part.

01

Exhaust-related components

Parts exposed to exhaust heat need a coating system selected for that environment.

02

Engine & performance parts

Under-hood and engine-related parts can see very different heat levels depending on location and use.

03

Custom metal components

Fabricated or specialty parts should be evaluated by material, operating environment and finish requirements.

BEFORE COLOR

Confirm the system, then narrow the appearance.

The complete color catalog is useful for appearance, but the series/product guide comes first when temperature is a major requirement.

HIGH-HEAT FAQ

Questions worth answering before coating.

Exact suitability depends on the component and its service environment.

Is every Cerakote color available for extreme heat?

Do not assume suitability from color alone. Series/product suitability comes first; appearance choices are then narrowed within the appropriate system.

Can I choose the coating from a photo only?

Photos help, but IKKIN also needs the component type, substrate and intended use.

Should I send the part before getting a quote?

No. Start with project details so coating direction and handling requirements can be discussed before drop-off or shipment.

Where do I compare coating families?

Use the Cerakote Products / Series page for H, C, Elite/E, F, V, MC and P-Series guides.
